"There's no such thing as too much Ultra Gypsy. The tattooed, belly-dancing hipsters perform a lot, and still audiences can't seem to get enough of the talented troupe, which is busy inventing its own dance traditions."
- Hiya Swanhuyser for SF Weekly

2003 was an amazing year for Ultra Gypsy; we performed our Underworld piece for sold out crowds, hosted our first annual post-Rakassah party, and debuted our mesmerizing Zaar number in the desert of the Burning Man festival.

You can see a Gallery of photos from the show (when available) by clicking on the show's name.

And we're always interested in sharing your photos of Ultra Gypsy in performance. Simply contact our Webmaster for more details...

Trance-formation in the Desert: Ultra Gypsy at Burning Man
on the playa at Black Rock City, Nevada
Procession starts at sunset; check for locations
Dust and fire, ritual and catharsis, music and movement. Under the big sky, Ultra Gypsy dancers will be joined by Djun Djun, members of Urban Tribal, gypsy dancer Elizabeth Strong, and the finest musicians our community has to offer.
Together we will create an otherworld caravan of dance and music—at once North African nomad and post-industrial vagabond. Our fellow Burners can look for us roaming the playa, along the Esplanade, at Center Camp, the Man, and the Temple of Honor on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday nights.
If you find our caravan, you might catch Ultra Gypsy’s acclaimed performance, The Underworld, or see our all-new show, Trance-formation.
