Jill Parker
Director

Jill Parker is the founder and director of Ultra Gypsy and a respected member of the vibrant Bay Area dance community.
She has been teaching and performing bellydance since 1989, and running Ultra Gypsy since 1996. In addition to directing Ultra Gypsy and teaching five belly dance classes a week, Jill directs a student troupe called Djun Djun and co-directs Zambra Bailar Yalla!, a flamenco and belly dance fusion company.
Jill moved to San Francisco from upstate New York in 1987. In 1989 she became a founding member of the widely recognized FatChance BellyDance, pioneering a new style and aesthetic of bellydancing. In 1996 she founded her own company, Ultra Gypsy, in order to further explore her creative ideas. Jill loves dancing in a company and feels that her artistic expression is fully realized in Ultra Gypsy’s unique brand of bellydance theater.

Her extensive dance and movement background includes yoga, salsa, Afro-Haitian, pilates, flamenco, Tunisian, Turkish, Egyptian dance, martial arts, fire dance and theatre.
